My heartfelt condolences to the entire Cole family and close friends of David.
I just found out about his passing after visiting the Native Web page after a brief period of time.
For many moons I had an email address with Nativeweb and found the news aspect of the data contained therein extremely helpful as Indigenous people struggle here in America.
David vision for founding a forum for our issues will never be forgotten among the future generations of young Native users.

We were shocked to hear about David's death this morning when we returned to Syracuse. David's feisty humor and tenacious hold on life were remarkable. With Deborah's love and support he lived life to the fullest even under daunting circumstances. Our hearts go out to Deborah and we will not forget David's spirit.

We are deeply saddened to hear of David's death. He and Deborah welcomed us warmly to the Syracuse community many years ago and have remained treasured friends.

Once upon a time I prayed for a best friend, and David was the answer to my prayers. David's joie de vivre and generosity were unmatched. I've spent hours just reminiscing all the marvelous conversations and adventures. What a loss! My prayers are now with you Deborah and David's family. What a blessing to have known him.

I was so privileged to have shared a 15 year friendship with David, which began in southern Arizona long ago. We bonded over his great love of books,reading recommendations and dining reviews! I loved his great author insight on book publishing! He truly had a great appreciation for all that makes the Southwest beautiful and he will be missed. So glad to have gotten to spend time with him and Deborah along the way. Our thoughts are with his family.
