David A. Colvin, age 87, formerly of Somerset, departed this life on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Baptist Health East, in Louisville.
Mr. Colvin was born on August 28, 1928, in Marion County, to the late James Anderson and Zelma Mae Richardson Colvin. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Rosemary Ware Allen, in New Albany, Indiana, on April 22, 1967. Mr. Colvin was a retired car man for the C.S.X. Corporation and a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; their children, Mike (and Barbara) Allen, of Salem, Indiana, Steve (and Pat) Allen, of Elizabethtown, Eric (and Sherry) Allen, of Shelbyville, Craig (and Robyn) Allen, of Shelbyville, and David Colvin, of Louisville; his sister, Mary Katherine (and Wade) McKinley, of Monticello; eleven grandchildren, Justin Allen, Travis Allen, Ashley Loy, Adrianne (and Jordan) Marcum, Alyssa Allen, Katelyn (and Blake) Lawyer, Chris Allen, Whitney Allen (and fiancé, Darren Ballou), Cindy (and John) Paxton, Sherman Stringer and Rusty (and Brittany) Wright; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Colvin is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Minke.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 10:00am until 3:00pm, in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, in Somerset.
His funeral service will follow the visitation, in the funeral home chapel, at 3:00pm, with Bro. Mike Stacey, Bro. Larry Martin and Eric Allen officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Buena Vista Baptist Church Youth Group or to the Pulaski County Humane Society.

I was saddened to hear about uncle Dave. I will miss his stories and laughing eyes. I don't remember ever seeing the man without a smile. Please know that you are in my prayers. I pray that you will find comfort in the memories of your time with a good and loving man
