Dave and I roomed together at Beta on winter. The remarks on his life capture the amazing person Dave was. We cannot fathom the loss to his family and the community. We are profoundly saddened by the loss of this great light.

Condolences from a childhood friend

I too was at Dartmouth same time and we shared the same name. One time my paycheck from Mary Hitchcock was deposited in his account by mistake. Perhaps a trival comment but memories always help rekindle a life well lived.

Dave was an excellent roomate and teamate, and represented the best of the wearers of the Green. We will miss David greatly.

David was that special man who gave love to those he touched. Carol, he touched you and your family deeply and permanently, and that touch reached the fibers of your hearts and souls and will remain there always, to be shared with generations to come. He will be missed by many because he spread his joy and light so broadly. I feel fortunate to have known such a wonderful man.

I met David soon after I became friends with Lindsey, our freshman year of college. Since my home was across the country, David and Carol took me in over spring break. Staying with them for a week I got to witness what a cool step-dad he was—funny, kind and grounded. One day during that week Carol and Lindsey were busy doing something, so David took me out to lunch in Burlington, just the two of us. What a sweet thing to do with your step-daughter's 18-year old friend! I always felt...

What an absolutely wonderful name-- I never knew all David's middle names. They sound just like him. He was wonderful to us at a time when former friends were tormenting us, and made us laugh when it seemed nothing would ever meke us laugh again. He also suggested that I move to the peace and quiet of Vershire, where he grew up. Now I feel I ought to go and take a look at that special place... David, thank you for all you did for us, and for being our friend.
