David Paul Cooper

I met Dave Freshman year in High School in Milwaukee. He and I were lab partners in Biology class. (The only 2 Freshmen in that class- David was the smart one - I was the other one). We became very good friends over those 4 years...and attended innumerable rock concerts and social activities together. He was such a happy person, confident, engaging, smart, and fun to be around. I'm so glad to hear that his success carried on throughout his life, and that he had a loving family and a life...

I met David back in the 80´s when he first moved to Portland. He was interviewing with our firm and I recognized right away this was somebody we wanted on our team. David grew up in the far northern suburbs of Milwaukee, as I did, and he, like me, attended University of Wisconsin Law School. While we didn´t know each other back then, as David was years younger than me, our parents actually had good friends in common. I enjoyed working with David, initially as he helped on my projects...

David and I met in the early 80´s in Colorado. We were both young chemists from Wisconsin working at Rexnord inc. We became close friends spending time exploring Denver, playing golf and having great conversations about a wide variety of topics (often over a good meal or beer). Dearest Martha, Jess and Grace, Thank you for sharing David with us! He completed many of our lives. I have had the greatest of memories, chats with him since the first time I met him on 17th of November 2015. Both of us were on the deck of a Bar in the American part of Okinawa, Japan, staring in to the calm seas, with a lit cigar in his hand and a lit cigarette in mine.
