DAVID CORDERO, age 72, lifelong resident of Las Cruces entered eternal life on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. David was born April 1951 to Margarita Ontiveros and Ramon Cordero. David retired from the City of Las Cruces as a Manager for the Transfer Station Department.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Christensen (Jordan) and son, Phillip Cordero; his loving companion of 15 years, Josie Lopez, all of Las Cruces; a sister, Connie Herrera of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren as well as his stepchildren, Bonnie Madrid (Alejandro) of El Paso, TX., Lonnie Gallegos of Las Cruces and Andrew Gallegos of Mesilla and 4 step-grandchildren. Other survivors include his loving Cat, Scarlett. David was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Terry Gil.
Visitation for David will be from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM Monday, February 26, 2024, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. The Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 11 AM at The Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. At his request cremation will follow and Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jordan Christensen, Arturo Chavez, Alejandro Madrid, Armando Herrera, Joe Hernandez, and Julian Perez. Honorary bearers: Phillip Cordero, Parker Christensen, DeLoss Christensen, Blas Molina, Michael Cordero.
There will be a reception at 1:00 located at Palacio in Mesilla NM for all who would like to attend.
