David Everett Cox, 61, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 2, 2023. David was born in Bentonville, Arkansas to Margaret Brown and was raised by his grandparents, Charles and Terry Cherry. David married and is survived by his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Cox (Ruede) of Rogers.
During childhood, David was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 122 in Rogers, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He was also an avid magician and cross-country runner and loved to reminisce about old races. David graduated with honors from Rogers High School in 1980 and studied both Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arkansas. David was a licensed professional with the State of Arkansas and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. His career included projects in 43 states and multiple countries. David was a devoted Christian and worked with multiple mission sites internationally; he dedicated his life to creating environments that facilitated life changing experiences and improved quality of life.
David loved the outdoors and took up a range of hobbies over his lifetime, including motorcycle riding, bicycling, golf, and disc golf. He was a thoughtful, loving, and supportive father, always finding joy in preparing extensively for birthdays and Christmases. David loved his one-liners and continued to make jokes with family and caregivers until his final day.
David survived by his wife, Jennifer Cox (Ruede) of Rogers; son and wife, Drs. Adam and Katy Cox of St. Louis; son Brandon Cox of St. Louis; three grandchildren Andrew, Hudson, and Lily Cox; brother and wife Mike and Helen Cox; sister Cherry Faul; half-brother and wife Scott and Brooke Fleischauer. A celebration of life will be held for David on November 9th at the Compton Gardens and Arboretum Garden Room in Bentonville from 4-6:30 p.m. He will be buried in the Bentonville Cemetery at the feet of his grandparents, Charles David Cherry and Terry Willis Cherry.
