Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

Heaven welcomed our loving dad, husband, papa, and friend on June 11, 2025, at the age of 70. Dave passed away after a valiant battle with a severe acute heart and lung condition.

Born in Los Angeles, Dave spent most of his life in the Salt Lake Valley. He graduated from Brighton High School in ’73 and called South Jordan, Utah home.

Dave was a man of quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep compassion. He was the anchor of his family. Dave was a loving husband to his wife Brenda, with whom he shared 46 beautiful years. Together they built a life of love, respect, trust, and laughter.

Dave was a proud father to his 3 children: Stephanie (Nick), Natalie, and Bryan (Parker); papa to 3 beautiful grandkids: Maddi, Rylee, and Beckham; and dog whisperer to his little shadow GI Jo, and to his adoring grandpups. Dave had a special nickname to match the special relationship he had with each loved one.

Dave was a constant light to his family—the biggest supporter, role model, and hero—always encouraging and endlessly proud. His love for his family was the center of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to show off pictures of his kids and grandkids.

Dave was meticulous and took great pride in building, fixing, and tinkering. He took his time to make sure things were done right ‘cause “if you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all.” For over 27 years, Dave was the owner and operator of Professional Pest Control and built relationships with customers who became much more like friends. This attention to detail translated into his relationships. Whether a day or a year between conversations, every interaction with Dave made you feel loved, remembered, and valued. He invested into people and would do anything to help those in need.

Dave lived for water. Whether slalom skiing on his boat in Lake Powell, relaxing in the hot tub, or splashing in the backyard pool with the grandkids, he found peace and joy near water. He loved the outdoors and being outside with his family.

Dave loved sports and never missed any event. He spent his weekends jumping from Bryan’s football or lacrosse games to Stephanie and Natalie’s endless dance competitions. The grandkids knew Papa would be at every event smiling and cheering them on. Family was always first, and Dave always made their passions his priority.

Dave built unforgettable traditions that will carry on through his family. The famous fruit salad and clam dip, Halloween chili, the Christmas “game”, Christmas Eve shots, and Valentines roses for his girls. Dave loved Utah football, and going to the games won’t be the same without him.  GO UTES!

Dad we are so honored to call you our father. You were our best friend, our “fixer” of all things, and our greatest supporter.  Remember to always fly with us and visit often. This is not goodbye, it’s “bye for now”.

Dave, I love you, always have, always will. Come have morning coffee with me, I’ll be saving you a seat. Till we meet again.

To celebrate Dave’s life, a viewing will be held Friday, June 20th, 6-8 p.m. at Broomhead Funeral Home in Riverton at 12600 South 2200 West.  Casual attire is preferred.  Cremation will occur on June 21st.

Not sure what to say?

I want to share my heartfelt condolences. Though I didn’t know him well, the few times I met him through bryan, I remember how warm and kind he was — the kind of person who made you feel instantly at ease. It’s clear that same warmth lives on in his children and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. Wishing your family peace, love, and comfort during this time.

I met Dave at Merit Medical and got to know what a great guy he was. He was always willing to help someone out. He loved to tease me about being short. I am so sorry for your loss. He was always so proud of his family.

I did not know him well. He did pest control at my work. Every time he came, he always had a smile and a nice hello and asked how I was doing. I was sad to hear of his passing as was everyone I work with that knew him. I could tell he was a good man, and this obituary validates that. I’m so sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss .Brenda Love you

So very sorry for your loss

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Dad bought a boat when we were young. We would go to Echo lake every Saturday. David and his older brother Bob learned to Salomon ski there. Echo had ski competitions and they both would bring home trophies!! We also went to Lake Powell. That was like going to Disney Land. We would go with neighbors and friends. We built cities with our tents. It was called Lizard City. One time when David was skiing Carl Church handed David a Tab as he skied by his boat Many great memories were made at Lake...

Brenda, I am sorry for your loss. Thinking of you

Dave was a great man. I met Dave through Bingham Football several years ago and we jailed right when we met. I really enjoyed conversations about family and life. He had the greatest process to set up the football fields by pounding PVC pipe in the grass. He would have precise measurements to make sure the fields were all in alignment (perfect). Most recently, I would receive a text or call to see how I was doing, talke about the Utes, and most often to talk about his internet bill (we...
