      Mr. David Yates Daniel, Sr. age 70, a resident of Old Forte Shores Road, Chocowinity, died Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his home.


      A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday March 4, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Washington. There will be a floating visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service.


     Mr. Daniel was born in Newton, N.C. on January 28, 1952.  He was the son of the late William Ashley Daniel and Patricia Ruth Baker Daniel.  Mr. Daniel was an Air Quality Technician with the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources.  He was a member the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Head of the Property Committee.  Mr. Daniel served as Athletic Director at Washington High School from 2006-2007.  As a youth, he played softball for several years.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.    


      On January 14, 1972, Mr. Daniel married the former Deborah Stephens, who survives.


      Surviving with his wife are his two sons, Yates Daniel and companion, Chris, Clinton Daniel and companion, Staci; grandson, Asher Daniel; two sisters, Jane Price and husband, Max of Wilmington, Shirley Harris of Atlanta GA; and brother, Tommy Daniel and wife, Margaret of Richmond, VA.


      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church General Fund, 113 North Harvey Street, Washington, N.C.  27889

Deb and family. We are so very sorry for your loss. David was a great man. He will be missed!! He and Jimmy Moore are probably having some high level discussions right now. One day we will see them again and Oh what a glorious day that will be.

I remember David from highschool. My prayers go to his family.

I fondly remember David in High School but lost touch with him once we graduated. My heart is saddened to hear of his passing and grieved for his family & friends. Sending my deepest sympathy.
