Not sure what to say?

Dave was a friend of my dad and became my "big brother" after dad passed away. We became known as big Dave and little Dave. I was very fortunate that Dave chose to be my big brother for many reasons. Foremost, he set a prime example of personal conduct and the importance of human dignity. I remember so many things that he told me that were encouraging, especially that he knew my dad would be proud of me. The world, at least my world, was a much better place because of Dave!

Dave was one of a kind. I first met and worked with him in the early 1980's when I was a young attorney in probate court. Dave was always kind and patient with difficult kids and their families, and he saw really tough cases every day. Years later, I became a neighbor on Case's Island. I have great memories of Dave, both socially on the Island, and professionally. Dave was a first class individual in all respects.

I am glad that I had the pleasure and honor of meeting a person like Dave... He was definitely someone with integrity, someone who had a passion for life and family to say the least. There are truly no words to describe the type of person dave was however the first word that comes to my mind when I think of Dave is "WONDERFUL" my condolences to the family and to all who knew and loved him you will be missed very much...RIP DAVE DODD:-)

He will continue to be in my prayers. I wish I could get a prayer card to put in my Missal.

Last trip in June with Harold (Leigh)

I just learned of Dave's death from another Flint Probate Court retiree. I sent him an email to inform him that my husband, former Probate Jude Harold Resteiner, his former boss, died on August 31. I guess perhaps Dave was there to greet him at the gates of Heaven. In 1965, I was a new hire of Genesee County Probate Court, Dave was my boss. I only lasted a year typing those sad neglect cases, but we remained friends and met for lunch often when I still lived in the Flint area. I stopped to...

I knew Dave when he worked, and I did as well, as an intake administrator in the courts working mostly with youth offenders. He was amazing because he would get an unfortunate, unruly and disrespectful young person his courtroom in line in one second, just by the stern tone in his voice...honestly it was really something to watch.

During that time in my life I lacked confidence, and he was so awesome and supportive. He changed the course of my life because of his kindness and...

Jill has known David since she was a little girl on Case's Island. She had a crush on him when she was 9 and he was 12.

I met David when I started going to the lake for our vacations. I really didn't get to know him though until he and Sally visited us in New Jersey. On the way to the airport to pick them up, I asked her to tell me a little bit about him. She said, "you know about him as much as I do." We had a great time with them going into the city, see the sights and of course...

I worked with Dave at Probate Court for many years. He cared deeply about the families who came before him and really wanted to help them make their lives better. There are just too many stories about his compassion and caring for others. He was a bigger than life guy with a huge smile and infectious laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

My Uncle Dave will be missed deeply. He truly had a wonderfully kind, gentle & caring nature. Since relocating to the Villages myself in 2012, we made it a point to meet weekly for coffee where we chatted about our family, its history and its impact on our lives. I'm so very glad we had this time together (he & I). What memories we shared! My thoughts and prayers are with you always. RIP my favorite Uncle Davy...
