Doyle, David A. Of Brookfield died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 29, 2008, after a nine-month battle against cancer. His wife of 52 years, JoAnn (nee Foote) was at his side. David, 74, was a graduate of St. Robert's, Marquette High School and Marquette University, and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Korea. He spent his professional life in advertising, marketing, public relations, broadcasting, writing and public speaking. He worked at Milwaukee's TV 12 before decades of entrepreneurship in advertising and public relations, including co-ownership of the firms Hastings-Doyle and Doyle Communications. He also worked as a model and commercial actor, appearing in national print and TV ads, and as an international tour escort. For the past 20 years he was an advocate for the aging population. He hosted a weekly radio program, Growing Older: A New Perspective, and wrote a column for the publication 50-Plus. He received many awards and served on several boards, including Interfaith Older Adult Programs, the Alzheimer's Association of S.E. Wisconsin, and Milwaukee's Aging Consortium. He loved his church and community, world travel and most of all his family. David is survived by wife JoAnn, sons Timothy of Milwaukee and Brian (Jane) of Cos Cob, CT, as well as three grandchildren, Rory (Liz) of New York, NY, Annie of Destin, FL, and Kathleen of Tallahassee, FL. He is also survived by four siblings, Susan Millin (Gerald) of Darien, WI; Sally Tombers of Richfield, MN; Andrew of West Bend; and Christopher (Tracy) of Appleton. I am so sorry for your loss, David was a mentor and a good friend.
It has been more years than I care to think about.
Again I am so sorry for the loss to your family

Dear Joann,
I am so sorry to hear that Dave passed away. My sympathy and my Mom's to you, Tim, Brian and your whole family on this tremendous loss. Dave was a wonderful and kind man. I will always remember the fun you and my parents and Don and Viv had at station events and parties. Thank you for your support when my Dad passed away.

My condolences to Dave's family on the loss of a really great guy.

Joann
I only had two opportunities to meet Dave and both were when he was sick. But in those two brief interactions I was deeply touched by Dave. As a nurse, some patients effect me more than others, and Dave was one of them. The conversations were rich, as if I had known Dave a long time. And the love seen between the two of you was amazing. I can only imagine the sadness you feel. My prayers to you and all of your family during this hard time. But know that you all have been blessed and...

David was a wonderful colleague and friend. I was a guest on his radio show and worked with him closely for six years as part of the Connecting Caring Communities project in Milwaukee. We also saw each other regularly at meetings, fundraisers, and other community events. David was a wonderful advocate for seniors and a shining example of how older people make meaningful contributions to and stay actively engaged in the community. I will miss his smile and sense of humor, as well as his...

JOANN,
DAVE WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP ANYONE,AND HE WAS ONE OF MY MOST TRUSTED FRIENDS AT THE STATION.HE IS MISSED BY ALL.

JoAnn,
Although it's been years since we've seen each other, I want to express my deepest sympathy with your loss. You and Dave have given me many great memories and great times over the past 30 years of our travels and client trips.... I will always be grateful to have had the opportunity to know Dave, and yourself, as a dear friend.

David was one of the brightest and most creative individuals I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

Dave, I'm told that we'll all meet up some day after this leg of our journey here is completed.
I have a problem with saying "goodbye" so "hasta luego, mi hermano". I always knew that you were a very spiritual person. Combine that with compassion, humor and Irish wit, and it's no wonder you were successful!
In a family often adrift, you were an example for the rest of us. You were strong in your convictions and always seemed to know what you were about. You didn't dwell on the...
