David H. Dwyer, Sr., 68, Bismarck, died March 9, 2005 in a Bismarck hospital after a short battle with lung cancer. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas E. Kramer officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan with military rites by the VFW Post 1326.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service where a vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dave was born on January 3, 1937, in Fargo, North Dakota, the son of John and Marion (Longmuir) Dwyer. He grew up in Bismarck and attended Wachter Grade School, graduated from Bismarck High School in 1955 and from Bismarck Junior College in 1957. He married Kathleen Peterson on June 28, 1961. Dave worked as a men's clothing salesman at several Bismarck locations, including Sharks Men's Store, Evan's Men's Shop, The Gentry Shop, KG Men's Store, and was employed at J.C. Penney at the time of his death.
Dave was an avid fan, especially of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved taking them on vacations with him. He enjoyed his time golfing with his brother, Tom, with whom he traveled around the state hitting as many golf courses as possible. Dave will long be remembered for his sense of humor and the smile he always had on his face. His kindness touched so many people in his life and he will not be forgotten by any of them.
Dave is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen; his sons, Dave (Darcy), Bob, and Mike, all of Bismarck; his daughter, Lisa (Glenn) Sherman of Linton; his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Kathleen Ennen and Liz Sherman of Linton, Jim, Nikki, Sarah, and Christine Dwyer of Bismarck, and one step-granddaughter, Kristin Milliken of Dickinson, ND; his sisters, Virginia (Earl) Schuler of Pine City, MN and Lois Diehl of Charlotte, MI; and his brother, Tom (Cindy) Dwyer of Mandan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John and his sister, Wanda.
