David Esterly

I only recently learned of David Esterly and am savoring every word of The Last Carving because it so poetically captures the intense beauty of the design journey. My condolences to his family and friends. His spirit remains through his art and words which will endure to inspire present and future artists. I hope Grinling Gibbons welcomed him to the Other Side. Peace-

He was more than an artist, he was a standard as the finest woodcarver in the world. Grinling Gibbons has died a second time!and my heart is broken for you.

I recently read David's book, The Lost Carving, a journey into the heart of making. Beautifully written, the book explores the mystery of the creative process. David's heart and soul flow through the book which is both profound and inspiring. He was one of the most remarkable people I have met in a long life and I am so grateful to have known him. His was truly a life well lived.
