Pvt. David Evans Jr., 18, enlisted in the Army after graduating in 2002 from Kensington High School in his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y. Evans, of the 977th Military Police Company, was killed May 24 when a munitions dump he was guarding in Diwaniyah, Iraq, exploded and the steel shelter he was in collapsed. He leaves an infant son, David Kevonta Evans, who was born in February, a month after Evans made his last visit home on leave. "I wish he could be here to see him, to hold him and to tell him how much he loved him," said the baby''s mother, Tamara Douglas. "He wanted to see his son so bad." His father, David Evans Sr., said his son wanted to make something of himself. "It was his choice to sign up and protect us," he said. "I''m proud of him."

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Evans Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May...

Still Remembered, Respected and Honored. We continue to be grateful to him for his service and sacrifice all those years ago.

To the family and friends of Pvt. David Evans:
Always remembering David. "Some gave all."

I would have gladly changed places with him. Specialist Niles Brush RET, 977th MP CO, Fort Riley Kansas, 3rd Platoon. Yes, I remember him. Such a good sense of humor, courageous, and honroable. Being much older, I would have gladly switched places with him. Not a year goes by that I don't think that... Every 4th and Memoral and Vet's day I remember Pvt. Evans and Spc. Ritzburg, both fallen comrades in arms. My heart goes out to both thier families, espiecially David's fiance and child.

To the family of Pvt. David Evans:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.
