Schrader Funeral Home - Eureka Obituary

David Douglas Fahnestock who was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 27, 1943, passed away, Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the age of 79.

Loving husband of Janice Fahnestock; caring and devoted father of Anthony (Deb) Fahnestock and Elizabeth (Bryan) Jeffryes; grandpa of Rowen Fahnestock and Riley Jeffryes; brother of Terry (Betty) Fahnestock; dear uncle and friend to many.

David will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to be a part of his life. He could at times be a man of few words, but the generosity and kindness in his heart spoke volumes. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who touched many lives with his gentle demeanor.

David found much joy in the simple things in life. Whether out on one of his frequent bike rides, sitting on the deck with his wife on a beautiful day or listening to Elvis Presley, he always appreciated those moments. David never seemed to complain or be unhappy about any hardships that may have come his way.

David loved his two grandsons, Rowen and Riley very much. When they were little he never shied away from the opportunity to get on the floor with them and play cars or build a train track. Later this evolved into a RC car hobby that he shared with Riley. David will always be remembered as an amazing Dad by his two children, Tony Fahnestock and Beth Jeffryes. They both feel extremely grateful to have had such a kind father who loved them unconditionally.

David will be deeply missed by his family, especially his wife of over 50 years, Jan Fahnestock, who he loved and adored. He has left a void in the lives of all who truly knew him but his generosity of spirit and his kindness will live on as an inspiration to all who mourn him.

Rest in peace David; Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Son, Uncle, Friend. You will be missed by those who love you forever. Every time we hear an oldies song or see a really cool classic car, we will think of you.

Services: Celebration of Life will be at the SCHRADER Funeral Home - Eureka, 108 North Central Avenue, 63025, Monday April 10, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Friends may sign the family’s on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
