Read MoreDavid was our next-door neighbor until 1 year ago when we moved away. We just learned today that David died a month ago when we called Dale. He was always such a kind and friendly neighbor who enjoyed sharing the wonderful tomatoes that he grew. We are proud to have known him. We extend our sincere condolences to all of David's family.

What an honor to have befriended a humble, yet great American. I truly enjoyed the time we spent building the cabin in Joshua Tree, as well as visits at David's home. His sense of humor, as well as appreciation for anything we shared will not be soon forgotten. Peppie and I send our condolences to the entire Fort family.
