Professor David William Foster

The Latin American Jewish Studies Association held an on-line homenaje to David and recorded it. I would like to share the recording with the family. Former students, colleagues, and Ana Maria Shua participated and about 70 people logged on to Zoom for the event.

Dr. Foster was one of the people who inspired me to make teaching Spanish my career. This was largely because his research interests were also mine. He was a generous and caring mentor.

So sorry to read about David's passing; he was a talented scholar and generous friend. I worked at the Arizona Humanities Council for nearly 20 years, and when I first became director David was someone I could always call upon for advice. He was a giant in the world of the humanities. I never had him as a student, but those of you who did were fortunate. Rest well, David.
