I remember when David and his wife moved next door to us on Woodlawn St in Detroit around 1967. I absolutely loved his wife Joanne who was a school teacher at the time. RIP David

Great man! i first met Smokey in san diego when he owned his night club SMOKEYS i was a member of the group zapp n roger and he hired us many many times he would always take time to encourage me and share great morsels of wisdom mixed in with his jokes and "FATHER WIT" i ran into him about 6-7 years ago in memphis one night while was performing my own show and he gave me the biggest hug and told me how proud he was that i was still doing my craft he once told me you can't make "chicken...
