Not sure what to say?

I was a freelance art journalist in the 1980s and 1990s, and I will always remember walking into the Littlejohn-Smith Gallery on Greene Street in SoHo and seeing David's massive, energetic, commanding art works for the first time. What a visceral impact. I was pleased to write a few admiring words about him and to down some beers with him over the years. He came to my first book party in 1992 (my sister was smitten). I am sorry for your loss may you find peace

we were neighbors of David in Springs. He was a great person. Always yelled good morning, and marveled at the beauty of where we lived. He always had a smile on his face, and a beautiful attitude. Once I yelled that there was a snake in the basement and he came right over to grab it and bring it out for me.

I am sorry to hear this. I was trying to contact David about a condemned property in his name in the Catskills.

For me I will always remember the genuine happiness in David's voice when he would greet me when he would visit Portland or I would visit New York. My name "Seth" never sounded so good. And he was this way with everyone which just always made it so much fun to be in his circle. I will always have such fond memories of the time I spent with David and I will miss him so very much. My thoughts are with his family.

A life full of creation and memorable deeds. So sorry for your loss of this rare spirit.

David was a unique and accomplished artist. A gifted friend, and individual. He led a rich and textured life with deep friendships. He leaves those of us who cherished him with a deep hole in our hearts. He will be loved forever .

I KNEW DAVE FOR 45 YEARS. HE WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME. LOVED HIS ARTWORK. ADIOS AMIGO!

David was my best friend in high school but then there were many people that could say the same . David had a way with making everyone feel special and equal even though he was just a bit more than all of us .
In sports he threw No Hitters while the rest of us threw tantrums .
In school he paid attention and passed , i was asleep and was asked to leave. With the " girls ", he dated the wow ones , while the rest of us looked on in envy . He was/is a one in a million type person...
