Even though our Dad shared his life with three families over time,he never missed a birthday or holiday greeting for any of his children or grandchildren. With so many to keep up with there would be the occasional blunder of signing a card "Uncle Dave & Aunt Carol" to a grandchild. We will all miss talking with him and anticipating how he would sign the next greeting.

Still in disbelief and deeply stunned by a loss that no one expected to happen so early in my father's life, I am beginning to recognize some of the simple things that I will sorely miss. The first snowfall of this winter will echo the emptiness in my heart, as my father would (without fail) call me to be sure that I was watching the first snow of the season. Each time I caught sight the first flurries, I knew I would soon hear the phone ring.
