Not sure what to say?

Did not find out until last year when we stopped into Gibsons that David had passed. He was an old school friend and we even dated briefly in high school. He was a special friend in the trumpet section of band. My late husband, Jim Lee and I stopped in whenever we were in Oberlin to say hello to whoever was there and always got a treat! I recall spending my allowance there as a kid each week usually on eclairs or ice cream! Will miss this guy a lot as I’m sure many from Oberlin will! My...

Dave was the most kind, thoughtful, open-hearted and generous person I've ever known. He had incredible love for and fierce loyalty to family. I'm proud to be a part of his family. I hope that I can learn from his and Lorna's example how to truly live in love and generosity. All love to Uncle Allyn, Lorna, Krista, Allyn, Steve and Cashlyn.

As an Akron native, then food critic in New York City for 50 years, I knew David from the family wellspring of good, honest tastes for 60+ years and admired it enormously from then till this moment. His is a legendary legacy of a life well-lived that we all could and can enjoy. To all the Gibsons, my thanks and condolences. Bob Lape.

Steve--
My heart and prayers go out to you and your family during this very difficult time. You know I can completely relate to what you're going through and I'm here for you if you need to reach out to me at any time.

God Bless you!

I have been friends with David and Rick since our time at American Institute of Baking. What a family... just like our family, a hard working family of bakers that loved the bakery business and the customer who enjoyed the products they made. My Gibson Sr. taught his sons to get up early (3-4am) and work hard all day. Today as I sit at my desk writing this with a tear in my eye, I am happy to say that I am so proud to have known Dave and the Gibson family all these years! God Bless you...

I met David and Lorna in August of this year. We were both staying at the Bentley hotel in NY while David was undergoing treatments at Memorial Sloan Kettering and my husband was having surgery there. It was a daily walk with Lorna and Baxter that we became friends. David and Lorna were the kindest, most incredible people I have met in a very long time. In the three weeks we were together we shared many stories and memories. The love between Lorna and David was so evident. I am broken-hearted...

Our deepest sympathies may his memory be eternal as he rests in peace with our Lord and Savior
