I was an occasional friend of David's through the anti-war movement and around his farm worker photos, but our last collaboration was to be part of a never-to-be released documentary on the future of print funded by Hewlett-Packard and done by Vice Media. I have a copy and would be pleased to share if I had an email. Thanks.

I had the pleasure of meeting and occasionally seeing David, as Nancy and I both volunteered at the same location (and sometimes together). What a great person for another great person to get to partner with. My heart goes out to Nancy. And of course my heart also goes out to my five-decades-long old friend Dave, to Michael, and to the grandkids. Wonderfully-written tribute to an gentle, grand human being.

Nancy, my heart is with you and your family as you and a vast group of others mourn David's passing--and give thanks for his life. I remember the rough stretch in my own life over 40 years ago when we talked after a Bettina masterclass and you invited me over for dinner with you & David. I think of David every time I am in the sanctuary at Luther Memorial Church where we have a cross icon that David created for us. He has been a blessing to so many people in so many ways. So sad to hear of David's passing. He was and always will be an awesome human being. I have always been grateful that he included my daughter in one of the South Madison murals. I feel blessed to have known you.

David is an inspiration for me-in life and in death, his memories will be treasured.
