The Best

Dear Ilene (“Mrs. Goby”), Robyn, Jonathan and Adam (and families),

My name is Diane Stoddart, and I was your babysitter for many years in the late ‘70’s and early ‘80’s. I work as a Medical Assistant at a Westport Pediatrics Practice, and just happened to inquire today about David (“Mr. Goby”) to a nurse who went to Staples (1972), and she told me about David’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. You were one of my favorite families to sit for, and I have often spoken of you...

I knew David when we were both in college. He was a charming, warm, intelligent and funny person. I spoke to him recently after 48 years and it brought back so many memories of how wonderful he was. Maturity had only enhanced these traits. He was grateful for the extra time he had been given after his bout with Hodgkins disease in the early 70s. It had allowed him 40 more years to be with his beloved wife and growing family. He was justly proud of them and also of what he had accomplished...

Dear Ilene and Family,
Dave was always a kind and generous man who was willing to help out his students in and out of the classroom, as well as his colleagues. When he retired from Staples, he truly was missed. I will always remember his smile, his brisk walk, and his humor. I consider my life truly enriched, simply by virtue of knowing him. He truly was a Mensch.

Dear Goby Family - I am so sorry to hear about your loss. David was such a wonderful and caring person. You are all in my prayers.
-Sara Sparks (Kristy)

Whenever I picture David I see him smiling. He was kind and genuine and will be missed.

Very sorry to hear about David. I grew up up the street from him, and was a student at Merkaz. In recent years I always enjoyed seeing him at the JCC in the fitness center. He was a great guy.

David was a very special person in my life. No one was kinder and gentler when I was most in need.

Dear Ilene, Robyn, Adam and Jon,

David left us all a legacy of courage in his life and in his death. We're so glad we could call him friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
