He was born in Northampton on August 19, 1961, a son of Francis Godin, Jr., and Eleanor (Smith) Godin. The family moved to Chicopee in 1962 and he attended local schools and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1979. He worked for many years at Conway Bedding Company until that company closed. He was also a member of the Night Owls Tent of the Sons of The Desert and an associate member of the Pioneer Valley Live Steamers of Southwick, MA. He loved to dance and do Karaoke and was an avid reader. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Paul, of Hatfield and a sister, Kathleen Abood and her husband, Mitchell, and two nephews, Matthew and Jonathan Abood of Belchertown and his former wife, Amy (Becker) Godin. He also leaves several aunts, uncles and many cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Wingate and the staff of SolAmor Hospice for their care and compassion during the last months of David's life. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 beginning at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee at 9 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated by Holy Name Parish at the former Assumption Church, 104 Springfield St., Chicopee at 10 a.m. The burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Northampton.
