To Hanna, Jane, Kathy: My deepest sympathies to you. David's passing is a huge loss not only to you but also to the multitude of friends, students, and colleagues he developed over his lifetime. Over the nearly 50 years I knew him, I grew to value the graciousness, respect, knowledge, and support he extended not just to me but everyone who crossed his path. His impact on ISU, the city of Ames, the state of Iowa, and the world in general will be long remembered.
