Barto Funeral Home - Spring Valley Obituary

David J. Grilc, 69, of DePue, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 9, 2025.  


 


Cremation has been accorded.  A memorial visitation for Dave will be held on Friday, August 22nd, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley, with a brief funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM.  Private burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DePue will be held at a later date.


 


David was born on December 2, 1955 in Spring Valley to Joseph and Lois (Mills) Grilc.


 


He was a graduate of DePue High School and a retired iron worker.  Dave volunteered his time with the DePue Men’s Club and the Hall Township Food Pantry.  He was proud to have participated many years ago in the Tug-of-War World Games held in South Africa.  He enjoyed attending air shows and racing events, especially the DePue Boat Races, which he loved.  He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.


 


Dave is survived by his sons, Dustin Grilc of Lockport, IL, Brandon (Kim) Grilc of Kobe, Japan, and Steven (Murina) Grilc of Portland, OR; two grandchildren, Kaia and Joseph Grilc; his sister, Nancy (Ernie) Biagioni of California; a nephew, Ben Biagioni, a niece, Tricia (Matt) Clark, and great-nieces, Abby and Madeline, all of California.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dave was a big part of our lives when he was in high school & for a few years afterwards. He was in our wedding & was also our children’s Godfather. Any time we saw him we all chatted for awhile. We will really miss him.
