Not sure what to say?

David and I graduated the same year from Syracuse University. Back then, he was the quiet guy with the shy smile observing the foolish antics of his classmates at frat parties. Little did I know at that time what a huge talent he would become. When we reconnected in San Francisco, David rarely talked about his work except to entertain us with a story about some crazy adventure he might have had while preparing an assignment. His stories were always told with such eloquence that I'm not...

David was a most interesting man and great artist as everyone knows. Not only on paper but ideas in general. He gave my husband and I great ideas on redesigning our home which we took him up on and think of him when we look at it. We will miss him. Our love and condolances to you too Heather and Eric.

July 2006, Fort Mason, after an art show we went to.

Years of fond memories with both David and Heather. I enjoyed his wonderful home surrounded by many of his beautiful paintings, being treated to his playing music in the middle of the night/wee hours of morning, discussing merits of the best camera to buy, being told the only car of mine he liked was my Supra (I think 'cause the top came off??) and the only redeeming value of my current car was the light tracking as the wheel turned, jetting around with both Heather and David in his blue...

David's paintings were an inspiration to me when I was in college. They still are timeless, a sign of a master. RIP David.

So sorry to hear about David's passing. He was a great talent and will be missed. Heather, sorry for your loss.

Condolences- David was an inspiration and deeply inspired us illustrators. A shining light who will live on in his beautiful work. peace to you

My deepest condolences. David was a neighbor of ours since his moving into North Beach. We all kind of grew up knowing the tall lanky guy with the cool Jag. We all had neighborhood friends in common and he will be greatly missed on Union and Kearny. Chuck, Vic and Toni Candia

I still have the April, 1981 Communication Arts Magazine which showcased his superb illustrations. He's up there along w/ Bernie Fuch, Bob Peak & Robt.Heindel; the best of the best illustrators; my condolences for his passing.

Just learned of this. Very sad. I visited David Grove when I was interested in pursuing Illustration. I walked up the hill on Green Street, and spent a whole afternoon talking about Illustration, and seeking his advice. Before I left, he gave me some press proofs and signed them to me. That was a memorable day for me, that I will never forget. Rest In Peace and Thank you!
