David H. HESLA

I took 3 or 4 classes with Dr. Hesla in the early 1990s. He was incredibly enlightening and largely changed my life. He was gruff in the most caring ways. A very sensitive and generous man. Decades later, his influence on me remains strong. Dr. Hesla is and always will be a mensch.

Many a time I put words to paper, I feel again his keen eye, and enjoy the memory of his leaven in the ILA

What a remarkable human being. My prayers are with the family during this time of bereavement.

My deepest condolences to the family and many friends of David Hesla. I was part of the ILA "family" in the 1980's, and David contributed mightily to its unique combination of intellectual challenge and deep camaraderie. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences to the family for your loss.Psalms 90 :10 says that the days of our years are 70 years,And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years .He was very special indeed.

My deep condolences to his loved ones. Dr Hesla was my adviser as a Humanities major at Emory (graduated 1969). Not only was he a wonderful friend, but I also remember seeing him when I visited Atlanta during a festival in the Little Five Points/ Ansley Park area and he was riding a motorcycle.
