1946 – 2018


AGAWAM – David M. Hill, 72, of Ruth Avenue died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  David was born in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Trade High School and has lived in Agawam for the past 44 years.  He served aboard the U.S.S. Essex for the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a Power Plant Engineer for S.T.C.C retiring in 2008 after 39 years.  David had a very deep love for his family. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Marjorie (Munn) Hill;  daughter Catherine Hill, son Brian Hill and his wife Anne Marie,  as well as, their daughter Emilia Hill who will always remember her “Umpa”.  He was predeceased by his parents Willard and Alice (Gowens) Hill and his twin brother Donald Hill. Family and friends are asked to meet at St. John the Evangelist Church Monday at 10:00am for the Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.  Please visit curranjones.com for more details.  For those wishing donations in David’s name may be sent to Work Vessels for Vets, P.O. One of the nicest people who worked at STCC. He was a pleasure to know.

I am so very sorry to learn of Dave's death. I was privileged to work with him at STCC for many years. His kindness, competence and commitment made him one of a kind. I enjoyed his humor and his genuine interest in those around him. May his memory be a blessing.

Please accept my deepest condolences to Dave's family and friends. I worked with Dave for many years at STCC. Such a great guy. He will be missed.

We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Dave was such a nice friendly person with a great personality! Before the hedges grew up so much, we would talk to Dave all the time and now when we started cleaning out our back we reconnected again. Steve was just talking to him last Sunday so we were quite stunned when we heard the news. Dave was always a good friend at STCC. We had so many wonderful conversations and kept each other up to date on what was going on in our lives. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was always effective at his work, kind to the core, and truly happy inside. I will certainly miss him.

We are so sorry to hear about Dave's passing. May the Lord be with all of you in this time of sorrow. We have many fond memories of Dave and may your happy memories of him carry you through these hard times.
