Not sure what to say?

He was a very special professor and friend.

Brilliant teacher, supremely humble - kind considerate and correct - he once said the greatest achievement of his career was his marriage to his wife. I'll always admire that, spoken as a true follower and disciple of Jesus.

Dear Gayla, I am deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. He was one of my favorite teachers. I am also sad that I am in Italy and cannot attend his service. Will see you when I return. Blessings, Carolyn Cammenga

Professor Holwerda was always one of my favorites. The learning always went deep. He taught of God's grace from the pages of the New Testament and he modeled God's graciousness in the way that he treated us. A wonderful mentor for me. And, his upper lip never moved. We loved him.

Sympathies to Aunt Gayla and all the Holwerda´s. We rejoice with you that Uncle Dave is now in his heavenly home. I have many good memories of Uncle Dave. He married Rob and I almost 20 years ago, and gave a wonderful message from 1 John 4: 7-16 about "God´s love and ours". I recall seeing Uncle Dave take care of Aunt Gayla and was reminded of the vows that I took many times

What a gift David was to so many; among them, to me. I treasure the memory of his friendship, and give our Lord deep thanks for him and his faithful ministry.

We were thankful to Dave who performed our marriage ceremony on October 18, 1968.
