CUYAHOGA FALLS – David Stanford Howdyshell, 89 went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 26, 2010. Mr. Howdyshell was born on a farm in Perry County, Ohio. He always considered himself a country boy. Stan graduated from Ohio University where he met Jeanette under an umbrella! They were married in 1941 and moved to Akron where he was employed by Goodyear. During WWII Stan was the private secretary of Lt. General Eichelberger. Following his service he returned to Goodyear where he worked for 43 years and retired as Program Director at Goodyear Aerospace, Wheel and Brake Division. Because of his passion for a challenge, Stan’s career was characterized by assignments that had never been done before. He was loved and admired by his colleagues and employees for his business sense, professionalism, integrity, and compassion. Always a gentleman, his humble childhood was his reminder that everyone deserves respect. Mr. Howdyshell has resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1941 and is a member of First Christian Church of Cuyahoga Falls. Stan accepted Christ as a young teen and was later baptized and has been an active member of First Christian Church in Cuyahoga Falls. His love for his wife and children is best described by I Corinthians 13:4-7. Stan was extremely proud of his children and their families, and he was greatly admired. His dignity, humble confidence, kind heart, ample smile and winsome spirit endeared him to all those who knew him. Stan was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, and loved competition. He tended toward individual sports and hobbies because his opponent was secondary to his desire to improve himself. He could do well at anything he put his mind to. He loved the outdoors and the farm. Stan was loved and admired and will be greatly missed by his wife of 68 years, Jeanette; sons, David, Jr., of Nashville, TN, Donald (Cindy) of Silver Lake, Craig (Linda) of Cuyahoga Falls, Barry (Pamela) of Akron, and Bryan (Kimberly) of Cuyahoga Falls; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and brother Alvin (Helen) Howdyshell of Elyria. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls.
