Read MoreDavid was a big part of my teenage years. He practically lived at our house when I was in high school and he spent a lot of time with our family. He was always such a nice person, someone who you enjoyed being around. If I listen hard, I can still hear David and my father, Bill Paterson, playing the bagpipes. My sympathy goes out to his family.

David was a friend of our family going back many years and a fine artist. As a young artist, he was an inspiration to me. He was sophisticated and created with a broad stroke, a sense of place and a sense of humor. He will be missed.

In the late 1950s and early 60s David was a member of my family for he spent a lot of time with my father, Bill Paterson, playing bagpipes. He was like an older brother to me.
