For the past ten years, David was a Board Member of the Yale Record Corporation, an alumni group of writers, artists, and magazine devotees. In that role he was able to advise and support young writers and staffers of the campus humor magazine, where he himself as a Yale undergraduate in the late 1950s where his first published writing augured his bright and productive career. Yes, his wry smile and quiet humor endurs.

Dave lives in any of us lucky enough to have worked for him and with him. I feel his praise when I write a decent sentence, and I share his wisdom when I edit others. Just the other day I quoted him to a writer, saying, "My former boss would call this a 'fact bomb.'" That Davism still makes me laugh. I mourn his loss and grieve for the family, but more important, I celebrate his life and cherish his memory.
