David K. Johnson Naples, FL
David K. Johnson, 80, of Naples, FL, passed away on July 23, 2015. He was a graduate of Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, WV, New England Institute in Boston, MA, and National Foundation of Funeral Service Management in Evanston, IL, and was certified by the Academy of Funeral Service Practice.
He began working in the funeral industry in 1960. He established the David K. Johnson Funeral Home in Naples, FL in 1972. David was the President of David K. Johnson-Pittman Funeral Homes in Naples and Bonita Springs from 1989 to 1997. He retired in 1997 and continued as a Consultant/Funeral Director. David was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and Past District Director of the Florida Funeral Directors Association.
David's many community involvements included Past President of the Better Business Bureau of Collier County, member of the Citizens Advisory Board for 'Long Range Planning of Collier County,' Past President and Founder of the Collier County YMCA, Past Chairman of the Board of the Collier County Golf Authority, Past President of the Collier County Blood Bank (11 Gallon Donor), Past President of the Naples High School Quarterback Club, Member and Past President of the Naples Kiwanis Club (32 year member), Member and Past President of Naples Retirement Inc. (Lely Palms Retirement Center), Member and Past Grand Knight of Naples Knights of Columbus, Member of the Collier County Sheriff's Citizens Commission, Member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Survived by four sons, Steven K. Johnson, Nicholas C. Johnson, Christopher D. Johnson, Andrew J. Johnson; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Avenue North.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 10:00 a.m. with Father Timothy Navin officiating. Entombment will follow in Naples Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in David's memory to the Collier County YMCA, 5450 YMCA Road, Naples, FL 34109.

I have known David Johnson since we moved here in 1985. Because of him my ex husband and I were able to live in beautiful Naples Florida. He was a wonderful man and will be missed.

I never had the opportunity to meet David Johnson, but wanted to thank him for all his dedication and hard work making Naples a better place for all. He was one of the founding Board Members of the Greater Naples YMCA that so many people enjoy using each and everyday. With out the leadership and vision of David, we may not have a YMCA. Rest in Peace and God Speed.

My thoughts and prayers to the family of David Johnson. I met David when I was the Deputy Registrar for Vital Statistics at the Collier County Health Department in 1969. David & Earl Hodges used to come in together to the Health Department and were both very friendly. Two of the greatest guys I've had the pleasure of knowing. RIP David

David was truly a treasure. His quick wit never failed to make us all laugh, and he brought a liveliness to every activity. He never forgot my name, and was quick to say hello anytime we met. What a wonderful and polite man, and how lucky we were to have him with us.
