Not sure what to say?

Hardly a day goes by without hearing Dave's voice in my head, as my classmate from Saginaw, and in his work as deacon. How I wish we could continue our conversations about the state of affairs and the affairs of state... I miss him and his way of tempering my enthusiasms, as always he did from his solid and humorous perspective on life, and on the farm. Loretta, I think he owes so much of that to you and the family you created together. What a blessing!

As soon as we are able to travel again, we want to see you, Loretta, on your home turf. Dave is an ever-present original, and so are you, even though you are on the move, which is the way of love. In so many ways Dave still moves us too. Till then...

A couple years ago, Dave wrote this to me, as part of a thread we were following: "the hidden meaning of "Do this in remembrance of Me..." is all of life. Every thing we do, we do as part of a memory... So life, and God, calls us to pick and choose.... and God of course calls us to do what he would do, and to be all that he created us to be... Isn't it ironic that to be truly victorious, one needs to act the opposite,...to give oneself away just as JC kept and keeps telling us. Large and...

Our condolences to his family! Our prayers for his wife's speedy recovery. Mr K was a favorite teacher & mentor to many of our children at Holton. He had a very kind & understanding way of teaching that students understood & respected. He will be missed by many so thank you Mr K for many various ways you have cared & helped people who crossed your path.....Scheels!

It has been many years, but of course I still remember Dave and his partner Loretta. I know this must be a wrenching time for you and the entire family. i wish it were not so. It sounds to me like Dave gave a lot of light and life to his family and his vocation. Nicely done, Dave. May the good God fill you all, family.

I will miss you madly, my classmate and friend; so many unfinished conversations. Jill and I loved our visits with you and Loretta on your camping expeditions. Some traditions go on and on... "Lift the stone, I am there; split the wood, I am there... You have seen your brother, you have seen your God." Bread for the World Institute has a memorial in Dave's name. We will keep in touch.

Deacon Dave will be dearly missed. Looked forward to his sermons. Thanking God for his time with us.

Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family

Dave was a good man, a great teacher too. A great guy. He helped our son who was struggling in English. . In jeopardy of not graduating without that credit. He sure did a great job. I will never forget that.
