Condolences to his family and friends. David aka Gov Curtin, was always a kind person to me. He supported the Midland cemetery preservation and came to our annual Memorial services over the years. When he told me it was time to move to his son's home, he gave me pictures of us at the Camp Curtin monument on Sixth street in Harrisburg. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Dave was a gentle guy who was always promoting Pennsylvania and the United States of America. He was a faithful devotee of many things musical but we knew him as a polka dancer. So generous and kind. He was loved by anyone who knew him. Dave and Anne Loeffler

The Hershey Civil War Roundtable members are saddened to hear of the passing of our Good Friend and Charter Member.

Before moving to McConnellsburg Dave, aka Governor Andrew Curtin, was very active with our roundtable in addition to all the other historical societies in the Harrisburg area. He brought Governor Curtin to life and we learned a lot from Dave and was our Honor and Privilege to have known "The Governor".

We Ladies in SW PA are grateful for "Governor Curtin's " 80 year active membership in the PA Allied Order of the Grand Army of the Republic. His patriotism spans this Commonwealth and many generations. Starkweather Circle is sponsoring a flag to be flown in his honor at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall's "Fill the Hill " campaign in Pittsburgh, PA. Rest in peace Uncle Dave. Although we didn´t get to see each other often, I always enjoyed spending time with Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Dave. Dave always had a smile on his face and a story to tell! What an honor to have known "Governor Curtin" across the years. He faithfully attended Remembrance Woolson Monument ceremonies in Gettysburg and welcomed all. He marched in advanced years. He instilled patriotism among youth, including our son. He brought history alive. We share a treasured Remembrance photo of 2016 and cherish PA Allied Orders memories of him. Deepest condolences to family, brothers, sisters, friends, and all blessed to have known him. Rest in peace, "Governor."

Dave and Jean remain in our memory as wonderful neighbors to our friend Jane. We recall Jean sewing Christmas stockings with Jane to help with a church project for us. Dave shoveled, raked, and did many tasks for Jane, and Jean and Dave graciously offered foods. We were able to see his Governor Curtin presentation at Paxtang Historical Society, and found him so informative and knowledgeable. A fine and gracious man. We were always glad to see him around Colonial Park from time to time. ...
