Preceded in death by parents, Herman and Clara; and brother Donald.
Survived by loving wife, Judy; children, Debra (Phil) Haynes, Michael (Kelly), Kelly (Michael) Anthofer, and Scott (Corrie); 12 grandchildren.
VISITATION Sunday, November 30, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Mortuary. FUNERAL Monday, December 1 at 11 a.m. at Hope Presbyterian Church, 5220 S 159th Ave, Omaha. COMMITTAL to follow at 2 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hope Presbyterian Church or NeighborGood Food Pantry.

Dave was a friend of mine. We went to lunch together to plan for the structural conference. He was always upbeat and funny. He was a great engineer who always aimed for perfection. I will miss him. Rest in peace.

A routine that never changed but one I so looked forward to. A drive to Dave's office, a walk back to his desk and the fight had begun. The fight of my professional life, the fight for my clients, the fight for my designs, my firm, my reputation... the fight, THE fight against whatever moldy old football recap was playing that day in the single earbud in Dave's ear. If the earbud was pulled, I had him at least tepidly mildly intrigued. As the years wore on, I like to think I earned my time and his attention. Perhaps Dave even had as much fun with our chats as I did. Judging from the never ending non work nonsense he and I would laugh about for hours at a time, I think he might have. I looked up him as an amazing engineer, enginerd, family man, colleague, goofball and simply my friend. I miss you Dave. I may not have always kept you attention but you always kept mine. I will never stop trying to grow to be the person you so effortlessly were.
