David was born in Richmond, MI to Charles and Florence Kronner on January 31st, 1936.

He served in the United States Army which ignited a passion for civil justice. David worked for the Urban League of Flint and dedicated his life to dismantling systems of racism and championing for policy change to support equity and equality. He participated in and advocated for the integration of his neighborhood, where he lived happily and comfortably for nearly 45 years. He instilled a wealth of knowledge, conviction, values, and a fire for making the world a better place in his family - and in anyone he met.

David is survived by his “rock”, the most loving and supporting wife, who shared his passions but also knew when to turn off the news for him, Mary (Steenland) Kronner. Mary cared for David tirelessly in his final days, during which he continuously mustered the strength to remind her that he will always love her. Their 59th wedding anniversary is March 31st.

He is also survived by his son James Kronner (Dena); Grandchildren Christina McCollum-Osika (Steve), Stephen McCollum (Zoey), Kaylee Perkins, and Nathan Kronner. Great Grandchildren Kaiden Perkins, Kaison Perkins, Malakai Perkins, Layla Perkins, Romulus McCollum-Osika, Brooklyn Towns, and baby Frances McCollum-Osika on the way.

He is also survived by one sibling, Mary Ellen (Kronner) Hnatiuk who he had an especially close relationship with.

He is preceded in death by parents Charles Kronner and Florence (Fitzgerald) Kronner, siblings Charles Kronner II, Richard Kronner, William Kronner, Marjorie (Kronner) Leduc, Maureen (Kronner) Goulah, Patricia (Kronner) Vomfell, and his beautiful, first born daughter Susan Kronner who was every bit her father’s daughter.

Not sure what to say?

David, you were a very special, unique individual. I hope I can still learn from that...

Soo many wonderful memories of song and laughter. I have peace in my heart knowing the joy in heaven as Uncle Dave reunites with all our loved ones that have gone before us. I know I will see you again. Until then, love Mary Kay

My sympathies to David´s family, his wife Mary and his sister Mary. David entertained staff and clients at the Port Elgin Day Away program with Mary when he visited in the area. He will certainly be missed.
