David was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and Boston University, and was an engineering manager for several computer companies, including Computer Control Company, Honeywell, Digital Equipment Corporation and Wang Labs.

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the United States, he co-founded the Roslindale Historical Society in 1973, and served as its President for many years. David has also been a long-time member of the Friends of Minuteman National Historical Park in Concord.
