David W. Lamarre died at Concord Hospital from complications of a fall at his home early in September. David 87 years old, was surrounded by members of his family during his final hours.
Born in Penacook, Feb. 5,1927. His High school education was interrupted when he joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations for the duration of World War II. David was a helmsman, and drove landing barges at both Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, before being part of the Occupational Forces in Japan.
He returned to Penacook after the war and completed his course of study, graduating from St. John's High School in 1947. He lived briefly in Los Angeles where he married the love of his life, Barbara Lind, whom he first met while she was a nursing student at Notre Dame in Manchester.
David worked for 35 years at Brezner Tannery/Allied Leather in Penacook before the company was sold and moved out of New Hampshire. He worked briefly at Concord Litho, and Page Belting in Concord before retiring in 1989.
David enjoyed playing golf and travelling with his wife Barbara. They were long time members of Beaver Meadow in Concord, Waukewan in Center Harbor, and later Plausawa Valley in Pembroke. They travelled extensively in Europe.
David was predeceased by Barbara, his wife for 64 years, in 2013.
He leaves his son, Douglas Lamarre and daughter-in-law, Penny Lamarre of Lakeport; his daughter, Patricia Bouldry and son-in-law, David Bouldry of Arundel, Maine; his son, Mark Lamarre and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Lamarre of Londonderry; and son, Eric Lamarre of Wilton Manors, Fla. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Valerie Sargent of Laconia, Diedre Golletto of Chaparellan, France, Carolyn Troncoso of Pautuxent River, Md., Jennifer Bouldry of Gardiner, Maine, David Bouldry of Medford, Mass., Jamie Lamarre of Cambridge, Mass. and Jace Lamarre of Londonderry; and great-grandchildren.
A visiting hour will be held on Friday, Oct. 24 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord.
Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Waters Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
