Sincere condolences to David Lane's friends and family. I got to know David when he participated in an NEH Summer Institute I directed in 1996, on Post-Wall Germany. Since then he has renewed his contact with his alma mater, the University of Massachusetts, and expressed great satisfaction in the accomplishments of our students. His personal and professional commitment to international education were much appreciated.

I knew Dave`s parents well when I lived in N. Andover.. They were great people and were so proud of their son. They had reason to be proud.

I didn't know Dave for a long time, but we quickly became friends while serving together on the Board of the Gaelic Arts Society. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, and all others whose lives he touched in such a positive manner.
May he rest in peace.

Rest in peace to my neighbor Dave also known in our neighborhood as the "Professor" He was the smartest man around here and the stories he would tell were always interesting. He always talked about his kids at school and was looking forward to start another year. He was so proud of them all. No matter if he was outside or just pulling in I would always ask how he was. We all looked out for each other here. You will be missed and we will miss that hearty laugh of yours! I know you are with the...
