David J. Langstaff

David was a colleague and a mentor. When I came to teach at Ridgewood High School in 1980 I was awed and inspired by the knowledge, professionalism and the love of teaching history displayed by each and every member of the department and the school. If I have had any success in my life and career, it is because of people like David Langstaff. I thank him for making me a better person for having known him. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Langstaff was one of the reasons I became an history major in college. He challenged you;made you think beyond just dates. History became the people who lived it. What an awesome teacher. I live in an antebellum home in North Carolina because history became so important to me. Thank you Mr. Langstaff for a lifelong love of our past.
