Not sure what to say?

"Mr. Laubach" was by far the most influential high school teacher I had at Loyalsock Sr. Secondary School. He made literature exciting; so much so that four years later I graduated from Yale with a degree in .... English. He was an inspiring teacher.

"Look at what some scholar has written..." Great teacher. WHS 1985

Mr Laubach came to mind today when I was thinking about my favorite teachers at Westfield High- I always appreciated how he gave us freedom to talk & write about anything the texts as long as we backed it up (... The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Dante´s Inferno, Canterbury Tales, Faulkner etc etc) - his advice made every future college paper better than they would have been - a random Google & reading his obituary just showed I didn´t even know how lucky I really was to have his expert guidance...

David was a treasured colleague at Kutztown University. We both had offices in Lytle Hall.

I didn't know Dave Laubach had passed away. I just found this online when I was looking for another teacher which is why this message is so late. But I have to say I still remember things I learned in Dave's Comp & LIt class at Loyalsock. And I remember this: I was the only one who got an A in his class. This was an enormous achievement that I took great pride in.

My brother (Loyalsock 63) and I (Loyalsock 69) owe so much of who we became as teachers and thinkers to Dave Laubach. He made high school in the mid-to-late sixties possible. He was both wildly challenging and deeply respectful of all his students. He opened up the world to us and we loved him. And never forgot him. I am not surprised to read how deeply this runs throughout all his career. My thoughts go out to his family--to Glenda who I remember well, particularly as the remarkable woman...

I am so sorry to hear of Dave Laubach's passing. He was my English teacher at Loyalsock the first couple of years that he taught. He was such an inspiration and the best teacher I ever had. I taught English for 37 years and tried to embody Dave's principles and methods throughout my career. I have often thought of him with affection and great respect over the years.
His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Laubach was a kind and wonderful man. He was especially nice to me when I was a junior faculty number just finding my way. I'll miss seeing his friendly face and knowing he's in the dark behind me at the Strand, undoubtedly thinking very hard about the movie on the screen. If more people possessed the same qualities and had the same inquisitiveness, the world would be a better place.

So many wonderful memories of David during his years at Westfield High. We were blessed to know him, touched by his kindness, inspired by his wisdom. Condolences to Glenda and the girls.
