Not sure what to say?

I deeply regret that I didn't make the trip to Dallas to meet David right before he passed and talk about my upcoming book about Operation Iraqi Freedom. The news of his passing saddened me immensely. David was kind and friendly. I got know him rather well while he was embedded with us, TF 2-69. Even though I decided to avoid all the media folks, he changed that for me. He promised to share with me photographs from OIF so I can use them in my book. Rest in peace Combat Dave. All those whose...

My condolences to the family. CH Bucur Daniel

I am so, so saddened by Dave's passing. I am shocked. Combat Dave was a hero in my book. I was planning to visit him this year, maybe next. During operation Iraqi freedom he became a friend, a true friend. He was in love with his craft, and always kind and positive. I cannot believe this. His sacrifice is encapsulated in his work. Oh Dave, I am going to miss you so much. RIP my friend.

Your mother worked with my father. You gave me an old camera at a young age, my first. Even at that time before the "reality", the inspiration that provided, the gift of that sight - opened a new world for me as well. With respect I say "thank you" David... RIP

The man lived all of his 9 lives to the fullest.

So proud to have worked at TDMN - I remember the sadness watching so many employees taking buyouts and leaving. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Not only a great photojournalist but a great man.
