David E. "Red" Lehr

So sorry to hear of your great loss. I am a Winchester collector from Chatham,Il. Heard of Red years ago and finally met him at a gun show in Belleville last year. He invited me to his home to see his wonderful collection. I did talk him out of selling one Winchester and loved his stories especially about his bands and love of music. He was truly one of the most interesting men I have ever met. God Bless you all and may you find comfort in his memory.

You have our deepest sympathy and prayers. "Red" was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He always reminded me of my dad Paul Berger and the pigeons he shot in the barn. Jeff you are carrying on in his place and your family is an asset to the community.

Dear Carolyn & Family,
It was many years ago when I first heard Red play his sousaphone. Gene Pokorny, then tubist with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO), introduced me to Red and Jeanie after one of our SLSO concerts. I was the Principal Trumpet of the SLSO at that time (retired now), and fell in love with his music. He brought so much joy to so many people with his music, and even more so with his love of people. He will be missed. RIP Red.

Growing up in the Tilden Methodist Church with David playing the tuba along with his beautiful family’s musical talent, was a faith building foundation of how to “Sing to the Lord” We thank God for the gifts He bestowed upon David.
