Not sure what to say?

I will remember Dave's hearty laugh and zest for life. Although we did not see each other often, being separated by many miles, the times we did visit were very special to me. I'm glad to have known him.

Genie, with my deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family. I first met Dave when I started my State civil service career at the State Personnel Board. He was a person I and others admired for his knowledge, humor and kindness. Although we did not see each other often, usually at retirement parties or by chance on the street in Sacramento, I will always remember him as a very special person.

Bill Avritt, former Chief Deputy Director, Department of Personnel...

We have many happy memories of time spent with you in both California and here in Kirriemuir, Scotland. Our sincere condolences to you, Genie, and all the family.

Dave was always such a fun loving warm hearted person to be around on the rare occasions I had the privilege.
My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the Leighton family.

When I first came to work at the State Personnel Board Dave was one of the first people I was introduced to. He kidded me that he hoped I was smarter than my older brother, who also worked at SPB. Everytime I saw him over the years he would always kid me about being the Smart Liberty. What a gracious man. He brought alot of class to everything he did. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
