Not sure what to say?

I am saddened to hear of Dave's passing. Back int he 90s I met Dave and his family while on a ski vacation from Virginia. The Grateful Dead logo on the VW bus was an instant bond. Several times since then he had me into his house and shared meals and even the guest room for future trips. I lost touch in the 90s, but I will never forget the kindness he and his family gave me. May everyone who knew him be as blessed by his memory as I am.

DAVE WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND. A TRAVELER AND A HUMORIST. HE HAD THE MOST PLEASING MANNER AND A JOYFUL FACE. WE USUALLY LAUGHED TOGETHER. I THINK OF HIM WHENEVER I DRIVE WHERE HIS OFFICE ONCE WAS AND WHEN I PICK UP HIS MEMORIAL MARKER DRESSED IN ROBES WITH HIS FIST HELD HIGH. HE WAS AN UNFORGETTABLE CHARACTER IN A WORLD THAT TRULY NEEDS MORE CHARACTERS. SALUD........DAVID, TRAVEL ON.

Dave was an example of the best kind of simplicity.

Dave was one of a kind in so many ways. I worked as David's legal secretary for several years when they were in the Boston building and again evenings when they needed a bit of catch-up help in "their new digs.". He was one of my all-time favorite people. I hope and I bet he's driving a Volkswagen van and listening to the Grateful Dead with Craig. I wish I could see you one more time, David. I'd tell you again what a special person you are.

David was one of my favorite professors. He taught us about immigration law outside, under the trees. He kept our young minds from wandering by teaching us about the United States' government's effort to keep John Lennon out of our country. If my memory is accurate, he used Beatles lyrics to bring the message home. David taught me that one could be a lawyer and a free spirit at the same time. That was a valuable lesson for me. 20 years later I am still both. I thank him for that gift. ...

This summer Dave would have celebrated his 50 year high school reunion. He passed far too early. I have fond memories of being attired in bright colored pokka dot shirts, wandering up and down the hallways of East High, singing Beatles songs together, until each class would close their door to shield them from the intrusion. He was a talented attorney and a valued friend. We will miss you. Our best to the family as you mourn Dave's passing. Judge Royal Hansen

I am very grateful to have known Dave. He was a mentor and a friend. I will miss seeing him in the Avenues, at the JCC or at the Broadway.

Greatest laugh and the biggest heart. I imagine he is out there making music with Jerry Garcia.

May his family find peace and comfort in the days to come.

Deepest condolences to the family at this very sad time. Psalms 116:15
