Not sure what to say?

My deepest sympathies to the entire Lovette family. Dave was a great person, and a loyal teammate and good friend. He also had a great sense of humor, which I very much enjoyed!

He will be greatly missed.

Dear Lovette Family I was shocked to learn of David's death. Joanne and I were out of town on the 13th, and did not learn of his passing until last night from a fellow Davidson friend. He was a dear friend at RSHS where we played football together, and he was my "little brother" in our fraternity at Davidson. Sadly, out paths were not to cross again except by phone. We always talked of meeting again, and now that will happen only in the beyond. Please know that David was , and...

Dear Linda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

To the Lovette family I express my sympathy in your loss. For your loss is ours loss! Dave was very a special person in all his endeavors and a great friend. We will miss him be never forget him.

Linda and family,
I fondly remember David and his parents from my early years in Red Springs at First Baptist. He was always a gentleman and a pleasure to know.

Linda and family, blessings and peace to you on behalf of the Davidson class of 1962. Dave of course contributed significantly to the college through his time spent on Richardson Field and in other venues as a gifted lineman and team player, and he also contributed greatly to the Davidson College family with his caring spirit and his positive outlook. While we now celebrate the gain that is his in being released from a life of illness to the joyous resurrection life, we also lift you up in...

David was a very special friend and I feel a great loss. So many great memories of our times together at Davidson, and playing football with him for four years was a great experience for me. He always knew how to make us laugh. Sometimes before football practice Dave would go by the coaches' office and check on the black board to see what kind of practice was planned for us that day. A number of us looked forward to Dave arriving at the locker room with the practice update. He'd tell us,...

Dear Linda,

David and I were friends at Davidson our freshman year. Living in Fayetteville, we occassionally rode together back and forth. I transferred the next year to NC State so we did not cross paths again - 51 years seems like a long time but we will see each other again in heaven. I remember him well with his happy personality. Our rooms were close also so we enjoyed many laughs. Our prayers are with you and family.

I attended Davidson College and played on the football team with with Dave. He was a very enthusiastic player and a joy to be around.
