Mankoff, David age 93, of St. Louis Park, passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2007. He is preceded in death by parents, Louis & Feige Mankoff; sisters, Helen Rich, Cyrene Annecston, Edith Waxenberg, Ethel Pliam and brothers, Sam Mankoff, Harold Mankoff, Lloyd Mankoff, Cecil Mankoff, Bert Mankoff and twin brother, Mel Mankoff. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Held Mankoff of 65 years; children, Caryn (Charles) Rosenberg, Linda (Joe) Romeo and Fred Mankoff; grandchildren, Cindy (Perry) Burke, Lance (Kailan) Rosenberg and Debbie Rosenberg; great-grandchildren, Julia Burke, Max Burke and Jack Rosenberg; sisters & brothers-in-law, Polly & Louis Salloway, Nancy & Jack Held, and Anne Labovsky; and many loving nieces and nephews. David was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He was the top salesman for Pliam Linoleum at Chicago and Lake Street in Minneapolis for 27 years. He traveled throughout the world including Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, Jordan, Greece, Italy and England; but Hawaii was his favorite. He learned to play tennis in his eighties and always had a zest for living. Most of his brothers died before they were 56, so David was grateful for all of his extra years. His true wealth was in his family. He will live on in history in a Hennepin History magazine article, "David Mankoff's Journey", winter 2007. A special thanks to Laura Philbrook, director of AlterCare, Lisa Burns, nurse practitioner at Sholom Home West, Rabbi Sholom Resnik-Bell and the wonderful staff at Sholom Home West for making his last years happy ones. Funeral service TUESDAY (TODAY) 11 AM, HODROFF-EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 126 E. Franklin Ave., Mpls. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to AlterCare, Sholom Home West or Temple Israel. SHIVA Sholom Home West, 3620 Phillips Pkwy, St. Louis Park, Tuesday evening 7 PM. Hodroff-Epstein Online guestbook at: www.hodroffepstein.com

Not sure what to say?

To Aunt Molly, Fred and all of my extended family... It is with great sadness that I heard of Uncle Dave's passing. I remember coming over to his house when I was 8 years old and enjoying cookies and time with Cousin Fred. I loved to learn in his obituary that he remained active in his life even into his late eighties. My thoughts are with all of you. Please contact me -- I have lost touch with so many of you over the years and now with Email it is so easy to keep in touch. Love, Rick

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Deeply saddened to hear the last of Louis & Fergie Mankoff's children have now passed. This kind, wonderful man from this exceptional family will be deeply missed. Although I only met him a couple of times, many years ago, this feels to me like a milestone for the family. Wishing David's family and decendents peace, solace and love during this difficult time.
