David Mattox Obituary

MATTOX David Michael Mattox, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He was born in Columbus on November 29, 1948, and was a graduate of Franklin Heights High School. David proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He was a bus operator for COTA where he loved to tell stories about each stop along his route. David was a lifetime member of the VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, and Moose Lodge. He was a people person, and he made friends everywhere he went. He also enjoyed hunting and boating. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Shields, and siblings Juanita Ray and Robert and Richard Mattox. He is survived by his children, David "Michael" (Heather) Mattox II, Diza (Steve) Grines, and Kelly (Mike) Perry; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Patty Ward and Hellen Lyons; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Roscoe Swain officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Dave and I went to school together. I was always fascinated by him. Then I met his cousin, and married him. His dad and my father-in-law were brothers. It is such a small world. Loved those Mattox boys. Good lookin and full of life. Thanks for the memories, Dave.

Do you feel the love! That was Davids line he spoke so often as he walked through the door of V.F.W. David was one of akind.Said what he thought and meant what he said.He new was always right.I know that I'm going to miss him very much.This man loved his whole family so much.He will always be in our hearts.
