Not sure what to say?

I write re David McCabe I am Peter Robinson - a british photographer born in 1944 My birthplace is Leicester England I attended Leicester College of Art in the early 60s David had already been there for 3 yrs and had already gone to New York when I was thinking of being a photographer My connection to him is not family - but my mother knew his mother Phyllis very well and I meet the McCabe family quite often but memory is now hazy I just tried to email Deborah Erasmus but it...

My grandfather was David's mother's brother, William Hancock, who moved to South Africa in 1938 with his wife Ada. They had a daughter, my mother in 1944 and she was an only child with no family ties. David would be her cousin. We moved to England last year and I have been trying to find family links. To find out that David McCabe was my mother's cousin is absolutely incredible, such a pity we didn't get to meet him . My mother is 78 years old now and has never met any of her family. If...

So sorry to hear of his passing. I worked for David in the 70's at his hotel and bar on shelter island. i got some great tips from him on taking photos. My condolences to his family and friends

I hate to say that I never had the pleasure to meet David in person. I knew his mother Phyllis, ex-wife Christine, wonderful son Matthew and his wife Kim, who have two great sons, Jake and Lucas. I even met Lilly and Susan. I guess what I really want to say is he had to be a wonderful man to have such a wonderful family. He was so blessed and I know he will be missed dearly.
Friend of the family

David was a sweet man and a great friend. He will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out Susan and Lily as well as the rest of his family. Rest In Peace my friend.

One of our favorite things to do together was to go to exhibits in NYC. Here we are at the Guggenheim enjoying the exhibition Countryside. Of course, the exhibits were always better when David’s images were in them like this one! I’ll miss our museum dates. Love you forever.

Sitting around on a boat, shooting the breeze, listening to David tell one crazy story after the other... these are some of the sweetest memories we have, and David gave us so many moments like this. We'll always love him and the wonderful family he left behind.

He was an absolute pleasure to be around and I was always glad to see him. Better company could not be found. I will miss him.
